Introducing our Apprentice of the Month for July – William Harvey
July saw the start of our Apprentice of the Month competition, with 4 of our apprentices shortlisted for the award this month the decision was a difficult one. In the end it was decided that William Harvey – Ground Working Apprentice in Plymouth would take the award this month as well as £25 in vouchers.
Will has constantly had brilliant feedback from his host company Hannafin; Where they are working on the new Drake Circus Leisure Complex for main contractors McLaren. Will has impressed his supervisors at Hannafin so much that they would like to take on another Ground Working Apprentice through Shared Apprenticeships South West!
Will explains: “I started my apprenticeship with Shared Apprenticeships South West in April. Since then I have mainly been working on the installation of the new drainage system that runs underneath the new Drake Circus leisure complex. Under the supervision of experienced ground workers I have learnt a lot of new skills. For instance, I now know how to safely use a petrol disc cutter to cut clay pipes.
“I’m currently working on the road just outside of the site and I am now learning how to install service ducts and lay curbs.
“One of the things I have enjoyed the most is that no two days have been the same since I started my apprenticeship and I am constantly learning new things.
“I would highly recommend an apprenticeship with Shared Apprenticeships South West for anyone looking at getting into the construction industry.”
Well done again Will, keep up the great work!
